The motor market is rapidly changing in terms of energy performance. Variable speed drives continue to gain market share due to their energy saving benefit in many variable load applications, whilst other technologies such as permanent magnet motors and switched reluctance motors are being marketed for their energy saving benefit. Many of these technologies have variable speed capabilities in common. The scope of this task includes all motor technologies that deliver this functionality.
