New IEC Standards and Guides

The International Electrotechnical Commission IEC has recently issued several new Standards and Guides on electric motor energy efficiency:

• IEC 60034-1 (Edition 12: 2008/CD): Rating and performance
• IEC 60034-2-1 (Edition 1.0:2007): Standard methods for determining losses and efficiency from tests
• IEC 60034-2-3 (2008/WD): Specific test methods for determining losses and efficiency of converter-fed AC machines
• IEC 60034-30 (Edition 1.0: 2008): Efficiency classes of single-speed, three-phase, cage-induction motors (IE-code)
• IEC 60034-31 (2008/CD): Guide for the selection and application of energy-efficient motors including variable-speed applications
• IEC TC2/WG28: Round-robin on electric motors (download: Intermediary Report: June 2008)
